Analysing a clip - Hollyoaks advert

The diegetic sound throughout the clip emphasises to the audience who the source is visible to, we are able to understand where the dialogue is coming from helping us understand what’s going on throughout the clip. As the clip ive used is an advert there is a lot of sound bridge depending on what type of scene they are presenting each clip needs a different form of music – when death is involved in the picture the music will automatically be a sad slow song representing emotions and upset however when anger and war is faced the music will become more hard core rock creating anger and suspense for the audience. Sound bridge helps adverts for TV dramas become more suspicious and exciting by using this form of sound. Synchronous sound is used throughout this clip when certain movements are occurring in the scene as when footsteps correspond to feet walking – displaying someone walking in on someone making a new entrance or when danger is appearing. An advert is used to draw an audience in to watching the series, it’s important to create suspense while trying to get as much of the series into a minute clip, this suggests the quick jumpy changing of each scene throughout the advert, moving from one scenario to another.

The mode of address in the clip represents the company shouting out to their audience catching their attention through the use of dramatic clips mixed with suspense based music - throughout the clip they jump from marriage dramas to deaths to anger, this represents the TV drama itself, as a whole the drama is based on these topics, they’re representing their show through the mode of address. Aiming to publicize their company of the ordinary audience whilst attract more viewers.
